Practical Self-Mastery Course - CLASS 05: "Between Two Poles: Mastering the Totality of Your Being".

Welcome to our fifth Self-Mastery class, guided by studies from the book Letters of Christ! π (Want to start from the beginning? Here's the LINK to our first class.)
There's a truth about spiritual awakening that few have the courage to share: before reaching the light, you must traverse the deepest darkness of your soul.
I'm not talking about the surface of your flaws or those small shadows we already know about. I'm referring to that dense, complete, and absolute darkness that resides in the deepest dungeon of your being — where all your vulnerabilities, fears, and aspects you've spent your entire life avoiding facing reside.
The big question is: are you ready to truly know yourself?
π The Complete Map of Your Nature.
Being in touch with your deepest darkness, deep within your soul, reveals all its nuances. Only then can you truly know yourself.
It's not in the superficiality of the shadow that answers are resisted. It's deep within, in the densest, darkest, and most obscure part of your being.
Here lies the revelation that changes everything: when you fully know yourself there, you can say you have mastered it. Because once you cross this depth of darkness, you already know how to get out. And once you don't surrender to it, once you learn what it has to teach you and cross it, you can leave and never need to return.
The Freedom That Comes from Complete Knowledge
You don't return because you are no longer afraid — because you have already learned the way out. You don't fear because you know what happens there. You know what the challenges and lessons will be. You know who they are.
And you no longer imprison yourself in this darkness. You look at it. You can't resist opening your eyes and facing it. You cross it. And you move toward your center.
THE BALANCE OF THE POLES: Understanding Your Totality.
In the center is where you can see the two poles merging. A step to the right brings you closer to darkness, to the left brings you closer to light, but everything is one.
For shadow to exist, there must be light. For reflection to exist, there must be light. When there is no light at all, there is profound darkness — it is not simply a shadow, it is complete, total, dense darkness.
Even this profound, complete, and absolute darkness, at the pole completely opposite to light, is still divine.
The Journey to the Two Extremes
Now, when you are at the opposite pole, the extreme of light (the total, profound light), it is so intense that there is no longer any shadow, only absolute light.
This polarity, the other extreme of your Being, will also be experienced, but to get there, you must first learn that you too are this dense, profound darkness — you are not only light.
Only then will you not be dazzled when you enter this pole; you will know yourself completely and be ready to remain there — something that is not possible when we are burdened with shadows.
THE NIGREDO PHASE: The Laboratory of Transformation.
In Alchemy, this process of delving into profound darkness to begin true transmutation is called Nigredo — literally "darkness" or "blackness." It is the first and most challenging phase of the Great Alchemical Work, where all matter must be dissolved and purified before it can be regenerated into something superior.
Psychologically, Nigredo represents the moment when we confront everything we reject within ourselves, descending into the dungeon of the soul to cleanse decades of emotional filth and limiting patterns. It is painful, but absolutely necessary for any true transformation.
And it is precisely about this crucial phase that Sananda warns us so clearly, in this excerpt from the book Letters of Christ:
"Remember what I am saying now: you reside in two dimensions, and no one can pass beyond the dimension of 'mere intellect' until they have fulfilled the prerequisites for spiritual enlightenment. These are: true spiritual awakening, leading to a profound illumination of the activities of the ego and personality, followed by repentance, repentance, and repentance."
The Two Dimensions of Consciousness
Here, Sananda explains the two poles as "dimensions," which we experience at the level of consciousness — that is, through our mind and emotions — and what it takes to move from the polarity of darkness (which he calls the dimension of "mere intellect" — the egoic dimension) to the polarity of light (the dimension of spiritual enlightenment).
π The comforting truth: enlightenment, or ascension, can indeed happen while incarnate, being experienced in the way we experience reality within our own consciousness.
Why Do We Run Away from the Process?
Have you ever wondered why so many people run away from this deep work? Sananda has a surgical answer to this:
"Because of the malaise and the tug-of-war between the evolving soul and the human ego, which demands 'looking good' more than BEING good, and which cannot bear the thought of being imperfect, there are few people at this time receiving inspiration and sharing it with others, and who speak of the need to undergo a period of inner purification."
π The root of the problem: Appearing is more relevant than actually BEING. But the path to mastery requires you to BE, not just appear to be — and that "nigredo" is the necessary means.
The Truth That Doesn't Sell
And Sananda goes deeper, exposing an uncomfortable reality of the modern spiritual world:
"Modern people are conditioned to instant services, instant light, instant heat, instant food, drink, clothing, and entertainment. Thus, they are not attracted to a truth that implies self-sacrifice, hard work, and total dedication to the goal. Furthermore, many masters are making a lot of money from their activities and must present a truth that sells."
✅ The raw truth: It takes work, it's painful, it's the most uncomfortable situation there is to undertake this deep cleansing process. But it's extremely rewarding.
Sananda delivers the truth mercilessly — as always. It's not sellable to come to you, for example, and tell you that it will take several therapy sessions to cleanse the dirt that has been avoided for years, nor that you'll feel like you're in a red-hot oven at times. It's easier to sell magic pills, which often don't even scratch the surface shadow, much less reach what's trapped in the dungeon, unfortunately.
The Path of True Humility.
But what happens when you decide to embrace this process? What actually happens? Sananda describes it accurately:
"If you are on the ascending path to the higher spiritual dimensions, your journey will be characterized by moments of clear and brilliant self-inspection and self-understanding, often followed by self-loathing. This dark and painful feeling is the opposite of magnetic emotion, where the ego, which once clung to its essential view of itself as greater and better than others, now begins to glimpse the distressing fact that it may be not only a little, but very imperfect. Anyone who reaches this level of development will find themselves walking the path of true humility."
From someone in the midst of the Nigredo process themselves: Nothing has brought me such relief as this passage. It was like finding the dungeon's instruction manual and realizing that everything I was experiencing was exactly as described — in other words, it's working. π
The Wisdom of Graduality
But here comes the most important part of all this information — the care we must take with ourselves:
"At the same time, understand that your ego must, out of its need to enable you to survive, make you believe that you have value to yourself and others. Any serious external challenge to your self-worth is highly destructive. Desperate fear and a decrease in inner confidence will lead you to the certainty that you are worthless to the world. And the end of your life may be the natural result. Therefore, your progress must and will be gradual."
This is the most crucial guidance: This journey of self-healing will not and should not be a "sprint event," as that would be risky for your own personal safety—yet another reason magic pills don't work. There's no need to rush — everything in the universe is eternally expanding, just like you. Take it easy.
PRACTICAL EXAMPLE: The Gradual Transformation.
To make this more tangible, Sananda shares a practical example of how this process should be conducted:
Imagine a man who believes he will succeed in life if he aggressively imposes his will on others. He may even believe that if he shouts, he will be heard, but later he realizes that no one really likes him and that his coworkers and friends avoid him.
Two possibilities open up: He may become even more aggressive because he feels humiliated, or, if he is an evolving soul, he will do the right thing — he will go within and ask what he can do about this situation.
The Flash of Inspiration
What happens when a person is evolving? In meditation, he asks the question, and the Creative Source accesses his human consciousness, his psyche, and makes him realize that he is the one pushing people away with his shouting. This is a flash of inspiration.
Then he will understand that to be happy and successful, he must treat others as he would like to be treated. This is the inspiration of the Creative Source, showing how it works through its universal law: cause and effect.
But the journey doesn't stop there. If you are truly on a spiritual path seeking higher dimensions of fulfillment, you will gradually realize that this initial overcoming of the ego is not enough. You will begin to see other patterns of egoic behavior that you never suspected.
☯️ The Courage to Be Whole.
This is the balance: not getting lost in the darkness. Transcending it, facing this dark part without resistance. Healing what you find there. Walking toward the exit from the darkness without returning to the negative tendencies that imprisoned you there.
Reaching the center and walking toward the other pole. And when you get there, with the humility of someone who already knows they possess darkness, understanding that not everything is this powerful and absolute brilliance all the time, but that it is all one — this is true perfection.
Mastery lies in transiting: experiencing, letting this ultimate brilliance also enter you and realizing that it is you. This way, you will emerge with greater strength and wisdom, able to transit through all points of the universe, becoming a complete being, without being dominated by one point or another.
Why Is Darkness Necessary?
From one end to the other, everything exists within the Whole. Why is the pole of complete and absolute darkness so important to experience?
When you learn to be comfortable, when you spend enough time in contact with darkness, you no longer feel fear — you become part of it, and it becomes part of you.
Once you know this darkness exists, once you know you survive it, nothing can scare you anymore. Fear comes from the association of darkness with the unknown. When you become intimate with this total and absolute darkness, you become a being who can walk and be accepted as part of this darkness.
ALCHEMICAL EXPERIMENT: Conscious Transformation.
Practical Transmutation Exercise
Based on Sananda's guidance, here is your exercise for this week:
1️⃣ Observe if this process is happening to you.
Remember: you will be separating yourself from remnants of past, erroneous beliefs about yourself and your illusory personality.
2️⃣ Set your clear intention. Which egoic tendency do you wish to transmute now?
“It is your intention, motivation, or conviction that provides the creative power to do whatever you want to do. The moment you wholeheartedly desire to change the normal tendency of your magnetic emotional patterns, you set this process in motion.” — Sananda
3️⃣ Set specific goals. Clearly define the goals you want to achieve by overcoming this tendency, write them down, and bring them to your meditation.
4️⃣ Recognize the signs of progress. Be attentive and receptive to receive the "flash of inspiration," which may come before or after meditation.
"In this way, the vibrational frequencies of your consciousness will rise, and you will gradually move toward the celestial realms of consciousness — the Kingdom of Heaven." — Sananda
π Or, we could say, you will move toward the most illuminated base of your polarity.
π§♀️ Remember: You are everything, you are in everything, but you will not remain at either extreme forever. Transition without clinging or resisting, knowing the importance of each pole and each moment for your experience as eternal consciousness.
The laboratory of transformation is open. Enter the darkness, knowing that
it is as divine as the light, and allow yourself to discover the totality of
your being. ✨
