Ayurveda: Knowledge and Harmony for a Fulfilling Life.

Ayurveda: Knowledge and Harmony for a Fulfilling Life.

Hello, I'm Cristalina, I'm 51 years old and I want to share with you my fascinating journey with Ayurveda. Unlike many people who have been introduced to this ancient science since a very young age, my first contact with it was about seven years ago, during a simple massage. This unexpected encounter sparked a curiosity in me that, four years later, led me to deepen my knowledge through training as a Master in Ayurvedic Therapies and Consulting. Since then, Ayurveda has become more than a philosophy of life: it is a powerful guide to help people achieve integral balance.

But what is Ayurveda after all?

But what is Ayurveda after all?

Originating in India more than 5,000 years ago, this ancient science derives from the Sanskrit words “Ayu” (life) and “Veda” (knowledge). Based on the principles of alignment between the individual and their internal and external environment, Ayurveda promotes harmony, health and well-being as a whole.

Inspired by this wisdom, I created an Instagram page, a YouTube channel and now this wonderful blog, to share educational content and practical tips on topics such as nutrition, psychology, mindfulness, yoga and therapies. What I have learned so far has been transformative: the four fundamental pillars of Ayurveda—healthy diet, restorative sleep, regular physical exercise and the cultivation of silence—are the basis of a full and balanced life, where the body and mind find their best version.

Prakriti: Vata, Pitta and Kapha (VPK).

Each person has a unique constitution called Prakriti, which is composed of three elements or doshas: Vata, Pitta and Kapha (VPK). This natural constitution defines not only physical characteristics, but also mental and emotional ones. However, factors such as poor diet, stress or external influences can cause imbalances in our system, known as Vikriti.

Panchakarma - Detoxification and Purification

Ayurveda offers solutions to restore this balance. One of the most effective practices is Panchakarma, a detoxification program that purifies the body and eliminates accumulated toxins, known as Ama. This process includes five main therapies:

Vamana (Vomiting): Recommended for cases such as chronic asthma or lymphatic congestion.

Virechana (Purge): Use of herbal teas to cleanse the gastrointestinal tract.

Basti (Enema): Rejuvenation of the colon to promote overall balance.

Nasya (Inhalation): Application of drops or medicinal powder through the nasal passages, bringing mental clarity.

Rakta Moksha (Blood Extraction): Removal of impurities from the blood for internal balance.
